The Presidential election is on Tuesday, November 5th and people around the country are deciding who they will vote for. The Republican candidate is Donald Trump and the Democratic candidate is Kamala Harris. But who will win?
Swing States
Currently, it is close, but we have to remember that a candidate could do something that will change a lot of people’s minds, in their favor or not. As of October 29th Harris is slightly ahead with a 1% lead, making the election very much still up for grabs, especially since important swing states–states that swing between the two parties, not consistently voting for one in elections–are still split as evenly as the country. According to ABC News, this means that one of these swing states could be the deciding vote in this election. So, without knowing what the candidates might do before the election, this race will be fairly hard to predict.
Harris’s Promises
Harris became vice president when Joe Biden won the 2020 election, and it seems so far like she’s going to continue many of his policies, but Harris has made it clear that she does have different opinions on some issues. Some key things Harris has promised to do are to help the middle class by fighting high prices, giving tax breaks, helping people buy houses, giving women abortion rights, fighting climate change, supporting Ukraine, and more.
Trump’s Promises
Trump, on the other hand, promises very different things. If he’s elected, this will be his second term. He also ran for president in the 2020 race against Biden, but he wasn’t elected. Trump says that things were better when he was president, and he wants to continue much of what he was doing. Among other things, Trump has promised to give tax cuts, keep many immigrants out of the country, make it so that parents are in charge of their children’s education, replace Obamacare, strengthen the police force, end the war in Ukraine, support gas cars instead of electric ones, and reverse many of Biden’s actions.
Pros and Cons
Trump is a convicted felon, charged with multiple crimes; however, it is not clear how effective Harris will be or how many of her ideas will be implemented, so there is no easy choice.

Great article, Elena! Your method of separating each candidate’s opinions makes it much easier to read and all of the topics are superb! Fantastic work!
