A baby Hippo and a King Penguin have just been discovered online and they are stealing so many virtual likes. Their names are Moo Dang and Pesto. They are from different sides of the world in zoos. Moo Deng, A baby Pygmy Hippo is pleasing residents in Thailand. Pesto on the other hand is an unusually large king penguin chick that calls Australia home.
Moo Deng was born in Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Si Racha on July 10th, 2024. She is the seventh offspring of the Zoo’z Pygmy Pair. She had been on many TikTok Beauty tutorials for her glossy skin. Only about 2,000 Pygmy hippos remain in the wild today. This is one of the many reasons that Moo Deng is such an Idol. She has a very playful nature and loves people. The cosmetics retailer Sephora has even launched a tutorial that says “How to wear blush like a baby Hippo!” because of her rosy cheeks. Moo Deng is loved all over the world and will continue to be as she grows up.
Pesto is a penguin who is also stealing fame. He was born at Australia’s Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium. The 9-month-old weighs an astonishing 52 pounds. That is twice more than the combined weight of his foster parents. Pesto is the largest chick that the Aquarium has ever seen. Aquarium officials are predicting that he will slim down to the average weight of a King Penguin which is about 33 pounds. A worker at this Aquarium said, “If I poked him with my finger, my whole finger would disappear in his feathers.” Pesto is going for a global awareness message that makes people stop hurting King Penguins. Already, the population numbers are steadily increasing. Maybe the world just needs a little more fluff!
