This year’s fall play was ‘Raise Your Voice’ and it included various songs from 15 different musicals including Legally Blonde, Aladdin, James and the Giant Peach, High School Musical, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, and many more! The play was around 45 minutes long and the show days were Thursday, 11/21, and Friday, 11/22.
The performers in this show worked hard for a month and a half, having rehearsals 5 days a week for around 2 hours each. These rehearsals consisted of doing warm ups, going over numbers, practicing transitions between scenes, and fixing areas that needed work. The teachers supervising these rehearsals included Ms. Emily, Mr. Phillips, Mr. Rogers, Ms. Benz, and Mr. Frimmer. These 5 teachers worked extremely hard to put this play together and they did an excellent job. Some students who saw the play said that it was “exceptional for a middle school production,” and that “everyone did an extraordinary job and I can’t wait to see what they will put on for the spring play,” and others said that it was “enjoyable to watch” and “the performers did amazing and the energy was definitely there.”
Some numbers that stood out to many students were ‘These Palace Walls’ from Aladdin which was sung by Miller Oades, Natalie Test, Adrienne Bihl, and Sampurna Bhowmik. Another piece was ‘Part of Your World’ from The Little Mermaid which was sung by Reese McGarvey. These were just a few of all the other excellent musical numbers from this show and all the performers did amazing.
This play was open to students in all grades and stage crew was available for 7th and 8th graders. There were auditions, however everyone got a role in this play. There is a fall play every year, and it is great practice to prepare for the spring play. All the plays that Coleytown Company put on are always outstanding and we hope to see you in the audience or on the stage for their next play, Matilda!
