Matilda the Musical
Matilda, the highly anticipated CMS musical, is going live on the Coleytown stage next week! Staff around the school have been creating display cases, decorating the doors in the theme of Matilda, and hanging up posters. Videos of the cast have been seen on CTV, which has been getting students excited for the show. The entire school is buzzing with excitement.
As we wait for Matilda to arrive, I asked a student about their thoughts on the upcoming show!
A student in 7th grade said:
“Matilda is a very interesting and engaging show. I think that audiences will have a good time watching it. Not only is it a good story, but students have put in so much effort to make sure that it turns out really well. The actors and actresses have been working really hard to learn the script, songs, dances, etc., and to make sure it all looks and sounds really good. And not only that, but students in Tech Crew have been doing a lot as well to make sure that set, lighting, sound, and so many other things go smoothly. I think it’s going to be really fun to watch.”
There is a lot of excitement for the show, both from students and staff.
Interview Questions with the Cast Members
I also got a chance to watch part of a rehearsal and asked the cast a few questions about the show!
Question 1: How are you liking Matilda so far?
A 6th grade cast member said this:
“Matilda is so fun! I am having a blast with performing and making people happy.”
Question 2: “What is the easiest and hardest thing about Matilda?”
Another 6th grader said this:
“The easiest thing about Matilda is probably showing up on time. The hardest thing is learning the choreography. It is worth it though.
Question 3: “How much time and effort does the entire show take?”
A 7th grader responded with:
“It takes lots of effort and lots of time. We sometimes have to be there for 4 hours a day but for a show like Matilda, it is worth it.”
Question 4: “How do you think the audience will react at the end of the show?”
A 6th grader explained with this:
“I think Matilda is a great show and I loved being part of the process. I remember watching shows from the past few years and the audience went wild. It was my dream to be in a show like this one.”
There you have it! The cast members are loving working on the show, they think it is very fun, and there are some ups and downs to it. Even students who just joined Coleytown Company are clearly enjoying the magic that they create on stage. Thank you to Mr. Frimmer, Mr. Phillips and the entire Coleytown Company for making a fantastic show – we can’t wait!
