What Does the Piston Foundation Do?
The Piston Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps people fuel (no pun intended) their interest in working on collector cars, as well as other types of unique cars. Mechanics for collector cars and other unique cars are in short supply, so the Piston Foundation works to help young people capitalize on their interest in cars by providing scholarships, apprenticeships and education on how to work on cars. Without the Piston Foundation, less people will be involved in the collector car industry.
What Can You Do To Help?
Donating money is a great way to help the Piston Foundation’s operations keep firing on all cylinders. Recently, they had a raffle to win a brand new Porsche, where raffle enterers could donate any amount of money for a chance to win. Opportunities like this are a great way to contribute to the cause and have fun doing it.
Who Is Involved and Who Is the Foundation For?
Mayo Smith is the Director of Donor Relations for the Piston Foundation and is a race car driver who lives in Connecticut that has placed third in the Rolex 24. I have been working with Smith for a few months now, and have learned about the many goals of the Foundation. The Piston Foundation is not just for students and young adults; the Piston Foundation is also for adults who would like to get into the collector car industry, as well. The collector car industry does not just refer to high end or rare cars, it could be any type of car (Race cars, historic cars, etc.) The Piston Foundation has helped people become the car enthusiasts they have dreamed of being. They have helped the industry of collector car maintenance, among other parts of the industry, stay alive and thriving.
