The annual CMS door decorating contest was another hit this year! This fun tradition started 2 years ago, with the intent of bringing communities together and to create friendly competition. Each year there is a different theme, and this year it was music. Homerooms brainstormed various ideas, such as beat-boxes, Spotify playlists, top artists this year, and music technology through the years. One homeroom from each grade is selected as the winner, as decided by members of the CSB club, and there are multiple runners up for categories such as creativity and use of materials. Only 3 doors win the glory of the trophy.
This year’s winners were Ms. Jarret (6th grade, Orcas), Mrs. Bowles (7th Grade, Owls), and Mrs. Socha (8th grade, Wolves). Ms. Jarret’s door featured the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 1993 with Michael Jackson, 2015 with Katy Perry, and 2023 with Rihanna. This door was a creative way to show popular halftime shows throughout the years. Mrs. Bowles’s door was a beat-box with the homeroom students and teachers holding beat-boxes as well. This was a good way to show everyone in the homeroom and their favorites musical artists/songs. Finally, Mrs. Socha’s homeroom created a juke-box. They incorporated a variety of materials, neon lights, and CD’s with everyone’s name along with a speaker to play requests each morning during homeroom.
Congratulations to the top three winners, the runners up, and everyone else who participated in this year’s door decorating contest. We can’t wait for next year’s theme and doors!
