Top 10 Upcoming Marvel Projects in the Coming Years

Hasan Nasar, Writer

  1. Secret Invasion

Secret Invasion is a Marvel storyline where an alien race known as the Skrulls has infiltrated earth and has been living under our noses for years. This story will be adapted into a TV show on Disney+ in 2023. It will star Samuel L. Jackson returning to his role as Nick Fury, leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. Ben Mendelsohn will also be playing Talos, a Skrull who will most likely be fighting as an ally of Nick Fury. After seeing the trailer, I can tell that the show will be a dramatic action-packed adventure. I personally think that this will be a great show but I feel like it will be very slow-paced in most parts. Despite that fact, I feel like this show will leave me on the edge of my seat.

  1. Fantastic Four

The Fantastic Four. Marvel’s first family. Before the Avengers, we had Mr. Fantastic, a glorified lighter named the Human Torch, a piece of hard orange playdough known simply as the Thing, and Sue Storm, The Invisible Woman. The movie is set to release on February 14th, 2025. It will be directed by Matt Shakman. The main cast is unknown at this time. I think this movie will be a very scientific action adventure, But I think they will cram so much into this film that it becomes a bit too much. However, it will help set up one of Marvel’s greatest villains, Dr. Doom. In the comics, he is a very prominent antagonist of the Fantastic 4.

8. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantimania

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily are going to return to their roles as Ant-man and the Wasp in Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantimainia. The film will be released in 2023. The film revolves around Ant-man, The Wasp, Hank Pym, Cassie Lang, and Janet Van Dyne adventuring through the mysterious quantum realm. It is a microscopic realm hidden in our world. The film’s main antagonist will be Kang the Conqueror. From the look of the trailer, it looks like Ant-man’s daughter Cassie will get her own super-suit. Now we don’t know whether or not she will have powers but if she does I see a lot of potential in her becoming a very interesting character with special abilities. Overall, I think this movie will be a fun family comedy/action which will also set up the next saga, (the multiverse saga) for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

  1. What If? Season 2

What If? was one of Marvel’s most interesting projects. The show follows many different situations that could have happened in the MCU. These adventures were so good because fans could see what they wanted to happen and be left thinking about how different the MCU could have been if there was a zombie outbreak, or if Dr. Strange was heartbroken and became evil. Something else that made What If? special is that it was animated. These factors set it apart from other projects. This is why I think that when season 2 comes out in early 2023 it will be amazing.

  1. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Set to release in early 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released. The film will revolve around the backstory of Rocket Raccoon, one of the main characters. It will revolve around the fact that he wants to settle down and retire from his nomadic lifestyle. We will also find out more about how he mutated into the hyper-intelligent raccoon. Zoe Saldana will also return to her role as Gamora. This will be a version of her from the past though, as the other died, and the film’s main antagonist will be Adam Warlock who will be played by Walter Poulter. Overall, I have high hopes for the movie and think it will be amazing.

  1. Kraven the Hunter

Kraven is one of Spider-Man’s greatest villains, but it’s about time he gets more attention. Sony announced that it will come out in late October. Not much is known about the film yet, but in the comics Kraven the hunter is an awesome character. He is a Russian hunter who has made it his goal to become the best. That is why he aims to catch the most deadly animal out there, Spider-man. He doesn’t have any special abilities, but he knows how to fight well, is quite cunning, and has a wide variety of weapons. I hope that this film will make him a very memorable character.

  1. Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse

Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse was a masterpiece. It had a great story and action, but its animation made it special. The movie was designed to be like a moving comic book and it accomplished that. The images were dazzling and they even added BAMs, POWs, and WHAMs to give it that old comic book feels. They also made it have fewer frames per second so each pose was more dynamic. The movie was one of the greatest of all time. After 5 years we are getting a sequel where Miles Morales, the spider-man of a different dimension, travels through more dimensions. The Plot of the movie was not too clear in the trailer. The problem with this movie is that it is relying on the gimmick that there are many Spidermen. But we will probably have little to no time to explore these creative characters. I thought this was going to be spectacular, But now I think this movie might not even be better than the first one.

  1. Thunderbolts

The Thunderbolts will be basically the more evil avengers. The team will consist of many characters from the MCU’s past including, John Walker, Yelena, The red guardian, Ghost, Bucky, and Taskmaster. I think this movie will be very special and could be a great film. The only problem I can think of is that the team’s powers aren’t diverse. All but Ghost just have superman strength and speed. Besides that, I think this will be a funny, action-packed adventure.

  1. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

At this point in time, not much information about the film has been revealed. All we know is that it will be the 1st Avengers movie in 6 years. But the Avengers’ members will be very different. Characters such as Sam Wilson and Kate Bishop will be replacing old ones, But we will also get new faces like Shang-chi and Clea. The movie’s big bad will be Kang, a time-traveling conqueror. I have very high hopes for this movie, but I don’t think it will live up to the original heroes such as Iron Man who have gone down in history.

  1.  Avengers: Secret Wars

Last but not least, I think the best upcoming Marvel project will be Avengers: Secret Wars, the 6th installment in the Avengers movies. This film is set to release in 2026, 3 years after when this article is written. This movie will end the 6th phase of the MCU and the Multiverse saga. Marvel heroes and villains are taken to a planet called Battleworld by a man known as the Beyonder. The event was planned as a large crossover to bring together several heroes and villains to boost sales, and it lasted 12 issues. I think this movie will be the next endgame. It will be an amazing movie and will definitely be one of the highest-grossing movies of all time.

In short, I believe that these ten Marvel projects will help revive Marvel at a time when they have begun to dip in quality. These shows and movies give me hope for the future of Marvel
