The Six Nations

The Six Nations

Oscar Curtis, Sports Writer

The sport of Rugby was created in 1845, in Warwickshire, England as a team sport. It has a reputation for being a rough and even life-threatening game. There are two teams, and the object of the game is to score the most tries, basically a touchdown. Each try counts for 5 points and also lets you try a conversion Field Goal which counts for 2 points. The field dimensions are similar to football, but there are no lines every 10 yards. Instead, there are two lines marking  22 meters on each side of the field.

This year there will be an international competition called The Six Nations. It will be made up of teams from  England, France, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and Italy. This competition happens every year and it is always an exciting and action-packed event to watch. As last year’s winner, France will attempt to defend its title and record of 5-0.  Tune in to NBC beginning on February 4th!
