It has been a year since the initial release of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. There is still an ongoing debate amongst gamers concerning which gaming console is better. Some people prefer Xbox’s console due to its nostalgic nature after the highly regarded Xbox 360.  However, according to a survey conducted by the Colt Newspaper, 78.1% of the survey answerers prefer the PS5. This opinion is not just in our school as the PS5 has more sales (4 million more) even though it is considered the harder to find console. This article hopes to finally settle this debate.

One important factor of any gaming console is its graphics. Both the PS5 and Xbox series X have incredible graphics mainly thanks to their GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). The Xbox series X has better stated data (12.15 teraflop to 10.28 teraflop) but they are relatively tied. However data doesn’t show everything – in experience the PS5 has better graphics.

Well it is true that the Xbox-Series X edges out the PS5 when it comes to console storage (1tb vs 825gb) however storage is useless if it doesn’t have good games to fill it up. The PS5 have a variety of exclusive titles such as: Astros Playroom, Spider Man: Miles Morales, Gran Turismo 7, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Sackboy: A Big Adventure , Demon Souls, God of War, Destruction All Stars, Returnal, Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank, exclusive Call of Duty features, and more. All of these games have good reviews and are well-liked across the gaming community. Xbox’s most popular exclusive games are Flight Simulator, Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, and Age of Empires IV. As you can clearly see the xbox has both less exclusives and less liked exclusive titles.

Another important factor in buying a gaming console is how easy it is to just sit down and start playing. While the Xbox feels sluggish and rough when using and has a lazily designed layout, the PS5 dominates in this category with an intuitive layout and virtually zero load time in game making the experience feel streamlined.

Arguably the most important factor in purchasing a gaming console is the design of the console and controller. The PS5 has a sleek console design with a controller that looks phenomenal and feels comfortable in your hand. The console has a plethora of ports to plug in anything you can imagine and a rechargeable controller. The Xbox Series X has a clunky design comparable to a lego brick with a controller that hurts your hands and uses batteries to charge, needless to say, Microsoft seems to be stuck in the past when designing a console. Another important fact is according to a survey conducted by the Colt newspaper, 78.1% of students prefer the PS5’s console and controller design.

While the Xbox Series X has better hardware, the PS5 is still the more sought after and popular gaming console due to its catalog of games and silky smooth gameplay.
